Katy Perry. I'm not a big fan. I'm not sure if I can call myself her fan at all. I know her songs and that's about it but when I found out she was going to hold a concert in Guangzhou, I got strangely excited.
I think it was to do with the fact that a) world-famous artists don't often come here so when one does, it's a huge event,b) she is part of my pre-China life, when I listened to Western music and watched music videos(even though I have VPN I hardly ever listen to the radio and never watch MVs). Fast forward a few weeks and I found myself singing along to 'Teenage Dream' together with thousands of devoted Chinese fans. I say devoted as many had LED boards, wore cat ears and colourful wigs to resemble the cat-obsessed singer. I wasn't won over by Katy but it was a good night nevertheless and the first time I had the pleasure of seeing the Chinese having real fun at a concert as at previous events, I was one of the few who actually reacted to the performance in any way (and they were excellent shows).'You make me...':)
