So...Hong Kong...hmm..I was going there with high expectations, excitement and hope of some shopping therapy and returned...let down and tired.HOWEVER, I was there for merely three hours AND I went by myself AND I chose totally the wrong district for my first visit. I'm sure all those factors had a negative impact on my short trip over the border.
Firstly, the whole point of going there was to literally cross the border and get another stamp in my passport allowing for re-entry to China and another 60 days there(on L visa). I chose an area called Tsing Hua Tsui as that;s where HK's largest shopping mall is (Harbour City) and I, very naively, thought that a mall of that size must have a fair share of both posh and moderately-priced shops and that going there will save me browsing through numerous separate stores. I wanted an easy shopping experience and I got..lost!The mall is so unbelievably massive that it's not so difficult to achieve, trust me. The layout was confusing, there were hardly any affordable brands and eating places there and the actual area was very crowded, with lots of street sellers stopping you every 2 minutes in an effort to sell you something tacky-very frustrating!NOT the best first impression..unfortunately to make the matters worse, I only bought a handful of things and couldn't even get a clear view of Victoria Harbour. Oh well, next visit is bound to be better:)
